Winter Concert Season!

Hello again everyone, it’s hard to believe we are in December again and the concert season is upon us here at Leon!  The Steel Band will be performing this Sunday, December 4th for our “End-of-Semester” show.

There will be 2 shows, 4pm and 7pm, each free and open to the public here at Leon’s Auditorium.  The 4pm show will feature our Pandemonium and Steel Crazy community bands and our Beginner student bands.  the 7pm show will include Pans de Leon community band, and our Advanced level students!  Each show should last 1.5 hrs.

SPRING IS HERE!

It’s hard to believe but we are closing in on another “concert season”!  We’ve accomplished much this year and it’s time to show off all the great work of the students and make some serious music!!!

Be sure to check out our Jouvet, Bacchanal, and Canboulay bands, as we team up with FSU’s “Mas ‘n’ Steel” for an evening of music under the stars!  Thursday, April 21st, at 7pm we’ll be at Cascades Park Amphitheater!  Admission is FREE so come out and bring your friends!

You can come see our Bacchanal Band at Klemen Plaza on May 7th – time is around Noon, but exact time is TBA, we are performing as park of a Leon County Schools Arts Showcase!

Finally, you can see ALL our bands at the Spring Show!  Sunday, May 15th, we’ll have our End of Semester shows in Leon’s Auditorium.  Beginning Bands at 4pm and Advanced Bands at 7pm.  FREE and open to the public.

We are welcoming VICTOR PROVOST to Leon as our guest for the concerts!  Victor is a highly sought after Educator, Recording Artist and Composer who is quickly rising to the top of his field.  The concerts are today, December 6th @ 4pm and 7pm in Leon High School’s Auditorium.  4pm will included our beginning bands and adult bands, while the 7pm show will include our advanced bands: Jouvert, Bacchanal, and Canboulay Bands.  The shows are FREE of charge, and relaxed in atmosphere, so bring the whole family and hear some great music!

Spring Concert Tonight!

Please come check us out for our final shows of the school year. Tonight at 4pm the first-year bands and our adult bands will entertain and at 7pm some of our most talented students will show it off together one more time.

Both shows are FREE, in Leon’s Auditorium and will be approximately 1.5 hours, The advanced bands will be featuring music from Jackson 5, Passion Pit, Aerosmith, Kelly Clarkson, ELO, Kansas, Youngblood Brass Band, Mozart and many more!!!

Virginia International PANfest – Champions

Congratulations are due to the Leon high school steel bands! Over the weekend they traveled to Virginia Beach for a national competition. The bands were judged by a panel of the foremost experts on steel band from the US and Trinidad. Bacchanal earned a score of 89.33 setting new personal bests for this group, while Canboulay band received a score of 96.33 (out of 100), and for the third time in school history, earned the top score of the entire day and was awarded the GRAND CHAMPION honor! CONGRATULATIONS LION STEEL!

We are gearing up to move the band to Port of Spain on Sunday for the big performance!!!
